|DAY 2: I am showing how to take my * NEW TC Signature Essentials STENCIL above and creating your own DIY TOTE BAG.|
Imagine buying a tote bag and simply adding color and this quote to a bag for yourself or as a gift.
It is the perfect DIY tote bag... PLUS I decided I wanted my stencil and my quote to
be a personal POSITIVE daily message.
-teresa collinsI consider myself very fortunate to be working with Canon. I know that it truly happened because not only am I an avid photo taker, but I print out my photos. I am obsessed with preserving memories. I first met with Stephanie from Canon in March. I had just got home from being on HSN for a 24 hour craft day. I was really tired, but was excited that I was going to go to dinner with my friend Kristine and Stephanie. I was home for about fifteen minutes before our dinner.
I did not have any expectations. I was excited to just know more about Canon. I quickly realized that with my passion for documenting life, preserving it and sharing it... well, it instantly connected us. I remember getting an email not long after when I was in Germany teaching from Stephanie. It was a friendly email and she has asked if I would be willing to discuss us potentially working together. I truly think things happen for a reason and I knew this was a perfect fit.
First, I am a Canon girl. I have only owned and used Canon for years. I have three camera right now and my entire family are the same way.
Now, let me back up. Many of you may not know that I started to scrapbook because of that "large" green tote that I found right after my mother passed away. I was so full of grief. I had flown home to Hickory, North Carolina and I went through so many things and tried to process the pain and loss I was feeling. I remember coming upon that large tote of hundreds of photos. I cried as I looked at photo after photo. I had no idea who so many of the people were in the pictures. When was these photos taken? Where? I realized I had lost so much in my mother dying so unexpectantly. She was too young at the age of 53 years old. I thought I had so many more years with her. I was devastated. I felt such a loss. I cherished every photo I found of my mom and especially of us together.
This began my journey of documenting, sharing and taking photos for my children and their posterity. I was and still am PASSIONATE about telling our life story. I remember asking for the Canon rebel. I realized how "FEW" photos I had of me and my life. I wanted to start and play "catch up" in my own story and with my children.
I tell every person who attends my workshops this...
"YOU are your family historian. Take more photos and don't regret not having captured that memory. However, more important you HAVE to print those photos out. They need to be printed, shared and those memories through your photos will instantly take you back to that time." I am a personal crusade to encourage this.
We have lost so much with modern technology. We text or email instead of writing letters. We take photos (digital imprints) with our phones instead of using our camera. Plus, do these photos EVER get printed? I know, I know... you are busy. Trust me, I know you are. We all are. However, I promise it is worth the time. It is your future, your posterity.
I am always asked so what camera do you use. This weekend, Taylor and Travis came over to the house. They have been dating for several months now. Taylor asked if I would take some photos. Of course... this makes me HAPPY!
This is my 23 year old daughter. I loved taking these photos for her. I used my Canon 5 D and printed them on
my Canon PIXMA iP8720 Wireless Inkjet photo printer.
This is ONE of my Canon printers that I use. This is my printer that
I print all my photos with. I could talk about how much
I love this printer and it would take days. However, I will just
keep it simple. I am going to demonstrate and show you in
a video how easy it is to use and print with- stay tuned!
Canon is known for quality. The printer is a top- quality, six color printer (it has 6 individual ink tanks -- when one runs out,
you do not have to replace all of them) that is affordable,
fast, quiet and efficient. My favorite part is that it prints Canon
paper up to 13 inches wide. Yes, that is BIG!
This printer is stylish too. It is equipped to print
wirelessly as well as supports Android, iOS, and Windows RT,
for those of you who want to printer directly from your mobile device.
I am a little obsessed with the BIG print size that it will print.
It will print a 13"x19" inch enlargement in only four minutes.
The best thing to me, is that as a busy mother and wife, you
simply plug it in and it makes beautiful print right
out of the box. It appeals to the professional photographer
and those of us who simply want to just print beautiful prints
up to 13”x19" inches. (I heart this PRINTER!!!!)
A photo captures EMOTIONS, feelings and in this case... LOVE.
We printed them right away and I even did a scrapbook
to remember this time.
"The worst photo is the one not taken and then not printed."
